It isn't all bad news. As we enter 2021, we are surrounded by the awful social unrest and unease that are a result of both a deadly virus that attacks the immune system of our bodies and an even more deadly viral assault on the immune system of Democracy in North America.  Despite that, it is energizing and exciting to find examples that champion inspiration... and reinforce there is hope, and positivity. A light in the darkness. 💡

In an interview from November 24, 2020, Rob Kerr, spokesperson for the Salvation Army announced an innovative partnership with TipTapPay Micropayments Ltd. to allow digital touchless donations using a VISA or smartphone - all powered by Rogers Communications Inc.’s wireless network.

The Salvation Army is one of Canada's oldest charities defying the "can't teach an old dog new tricks" idiom by leveraging a new piece of hardware - the touchless giving™ device created by TipTapPay, signalling the beginning of a new era in giving and what I will coin as the "digitization of the charity and donation payment industry" or payments with purpose.

Despite the negativity "period" at the end of a terrible 2020 "sentence", we can see how one old tradition stays the same. The act of giving.

As the payment industry continues to evolve in Canada, we can at the very least be excited that charities have a clear path to future proof themselves and to remain a very much needed part of the social fabric that keeps us together and keeps us strong.
